Pros
Awesome CTO and Supervisor: My boss, Nick, who also happens to be the CTO, is one of the best things about this place. He's super down-to-earth and actually cares about our well-being. You can talk to him about your workload, deadlines, and what's expected. It's a breath of fresh air in a job. Clear Communication: They're big on communication here. It's all about making sure everyone's on the same page. That means less confusion and more teamwork. Time Off is Sacred: They really respect your time off. So you can have a life outside of work without feeling guilty or pressured. No Over-the-Shoulder Management: You're not getting micromanaged here. We use Jira tickets, weekly reports, and detailed invoices to track what we're doing. It's like a self-driven work system, which is great for being more productive. Great Teammates: My colleagues are friendly and easy to work with. We're all hardworking and responsible. There is no toxic competitiveness or sabotaging; we all try to help each other. Hiring People Who Fit: They make a point to hire people who fit the down-to-earth culture here. It makes for a safe and comfortable work environment. Learning Opportunities: They're all about helping us grow in the job. They give us a budget for Udemy courses and make sure we're doing okay with our work and health. I want to note that Nick is incredibly understanding when you are sick or have experienced a loss. Daily Check-Ins: We have daily standup (zoom) meetings where we can see each other's faces and talk about what we are working on. It helps us get to know each other better and collaborate on tasks.
Diversity: The team is very diverse, I have coworkers in different countries whose first language is not English, but we all match the vibe in one way or another, so we can still collaborate and achieve our goals together.
Cons
Working from Home Takes Some Getting Used To: Working from home is cool, but it can take a bit to get used to. You've got to be disciplined about tracking your progress and communicating since your coworkers aren't sitting next to you. Self-Starter Required: When you're working from home, you need to be a bit more of a self-starter. Remember to update your tickets, send reports and invoices on time, and reach out when you need help. In a nutshell, this place is pretty great. You get a supportive CTO, a focus on work-life balance, and a healthy work culture. Just be prepared for a bit of an adjustment if you're not used to remote work, you are expected to behave like an adult (nobody here likes drama), be accountable, and be responsible. Also, there is no special treatment for praising the higher-ups, your value is in your honest work results and respectful teamwork attitude. Overall, it's a great place to be.
