Pros

The team members are the only reason I am there. I honestly feel like I am apart of a family and can truely be myself. They are really flexible with hours and will always be willing to help you out if things get tough.

Cons

Minimum wage to the cent. Buyers are genuinely stupid and have no idea what sewers or crafters want. The store is becoming a two dollar shop. The store is huge yet we have one or two staff members on most of the time. No additional hours are given when we will clearly be busing in a fabric sale. Subsequently customers are mad at you. Online training videos are an actual joke. Management makes you feel like you are nothing and add no value to their store. But mostly buyers have no clue what is going on and then the store looks terrible. You stop getting paid when the store closes.. so no time to do recovery. This is why the stores are so messy. Understaffed and no time.

Pros

You can make so many friends truly, the workplace isn’t all that bad.. I think I spend more time laughing making jokes and memories with my co workers than worry about the work load of Eviroment I’m in. If you’re cool with being unsupervised and managing a retail department by yourself with no help then it’s for you. You need to prepare to work quickly and efficiently to make sure you’re getting the jobs or assignments done. Everyone think they can do this job but let’s be frank. It takes a certain skill to do everything yourself and look after your dependent.

Cons

Loosey goosey supervisor who will let the team do anything they want on company time instead of focusing on work our paid job.

Pros

Fantastic job if you love crafts and helping people find something they'll love for years to come or helping people solve an issue with their crafting.

Cons

Upper Management expect you to work MANY hours over your contracted hours with no extra pay in order to get their multitude of tasks done in the time frame they expect, with no extra help. As a manager you cannot roster extra hours for help without Regional Management approval and that is rarely given. To operate a store the size of a Woolworths supermarket with 2 people is near impossible yet is more than expected it is a given and you still need to meet all the Sales targets plus keep the store in pristine condition and managing your stock. If you speak up you are told that other stores manage without issue so why can't you!? You get zero support from Upper Management unless you are a YES person who will devote extra personal time so that everything is done as they wish. It is super stressful with little respect and you are not paid what you are worth given all of the responsibilities foisted upon you and all the free hours they get from you as a salaried worker.
