Pros

There are no pros to working for LifeStance.

Cons

Run far, far away from LifeStance Health. The group practice I worked for was acquired by LifeStance, and within the first month after the transition, it was clear that LifeStance was a disaster. There were discrepancies on every paycheck and I had to waste hours each pay period arguing with HR about my incorrect pay. Clients were not informed that their insurance was now out of network and were surprise balance billed for thoursands of dollars (none of which was passed on to the therapists), which led many of my longterm clients to drop out of therapy. Operations behind the scenes were a confused muddle, with each person in management passing the buck onto someone else and no problems ever getting resolved. LifeStance is now being investigated by the WA attorney general due to client complaints of illegal billing practices, and they are being investigated nationally for violating federal securities laws. LifeStance is a shady operation trying to make as much money as possible through any means possible by profiting off vulnerable patients seeking mental health care, and short-changing the mental health professionals who treat them. Don't touch them with a 1,000 foot pole.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
