Pros
Great District Managers, who rescue and motivate strong managers. Great discount, great store vibe, perfect for sports fans who are looking to earn a few extra bucks.
Cons
Absolutely terrible pay. Managers running $1M stores being paid at the same rate as the keyholders in my last company, also specialty retail. While DMs are personable and seem genuinely committed to the SMs, there is substantial turnover in the DMITs and after promoting or hiring seven different people for the DMIT role in three years, all seven have resigned voluntarily after expressing that they believed the promises of promotion one a DM role were empty, and the additionally assigned work, communicated as part of their training program, is unpaid. Two have communicated that because of all the take-home work, they got less than minimum wage for the hours they actually worked. DMITs are often the ones to train the externally hired DMs. The far below industry standard rate of pay, lack of reward for results and endless turnover of corporate-transitioning management is discouraging and demotivating.
