Pros
Benefits were okay, you earn decent sick and vacation, and the state retirement plan is decent.
Cons
Awful, terrible culture. Leadership is disrespectful and, at times, biased and corrupt. If you work here, you better be a yes man or be prepared to spend your entire career trying to cover your @ss from all the unethical stuff you're expected to do. The severity of the issue certainly depends on which department you work for but regardless, the issues go from the top down. HR is NOT your friend; no matter what you're told, they are there to protect the County and save money. Plus, the pay is barely enough to live on, the qualifications for jobs are arbitrary, and there is little to no room for upward movement. Even the benefits aren't what they used to be.
