Pros
Ever since the new union contract was signed, my pay increased, I actually got health insurance and I get free parking. Plus, you have a LOT of protection from managerial abuse, the union has your back.
Cons
The only downside is that you only get one meal a day, which you have to take as soon as you arrive, and you have to eat the subpar food they provide, you can't bring your own food. And then you have to work the next 7-8 hours without being able to eat again, even though management is allowed to get free food from the kitchens (regular workers can't) which is problematic for people with health issues or need to eat every few hours. I know my energy levels start to plummet after 5 hours without food and I become lethargic and mentally unfocused. It's a real problem. Most bartenders work less than 6 total hours after our initial meal break, but some work longer than that.
