Pros

Other staff members are supportive, the atmosphere is that of a family within most libraries. There are fewer training opportunities available because of budget cuts, but they still encourage you to expand your knowledge. Because of budget constraints there are few openings, but you are encouraged to advance your career. Insurance benefits are great for full time employees.

Cons

This is a government agency, with lower property values there is less money for all county departments, this has meant furlough days and an increase in insurance premiums. Upper management does not always seem to understand the stress in each library. This is due to having to provide more services to more people with fewer staff.

Pros

The county takes pride in advancing employees within the system. Our medical benefits are also top notch.

Cons

Short staffing like everywhere at the moment

Pros

Pretty good health insurance benefits.

Cons

Just look at the other reviews here. This was easily the least responsive administrations I've ever worked for. Not only are two high level managers in a flagrant relationship that violates the county's own policies, but they actively work to undermine rights and representation for their LGBT+ cohorts. Director had a very "let them eat cake" attitude and the system has bled so much talent out in the last three years it is *shocking*. Meanwhile, Lee County HR pats itself on the back for a job well done and does absolutely nothing to address these issues.
