Pros

Love the actual job of caring for patients. I love that it still is mentally challenging/stimulating. Fellow collectors at my centre are wonderful, happy to assist when needed.

Cons

Chronically understaffed across the entire region — and likely state- and nationwide — within other Healius business units as well. There is little to no support or understanding from upper management; the focus is entirely on the bottom line and delivering profits to stakeholders. Collectors are consistently overworked and expected to perform far more than is reasonable. In addition to core collection duties, we are required to handle data entry, cleaning, and other tasks that should fall under higher-paid awards — yet we are only paid at the collector rate, which is shockingly low given the skills, responsibilities, and workload involved. Concerns raised by staff are rarely, if ever, meaningfully addressed, leaving employees feeling unheard and undervalued. "Team meetings" are disorganised and unproductive, often feeling like a box-ticking exercise rather than genuine communication or support. The new centralised rostering system is ineffective, with little to no communication and no understanding of travel distances in regional areas. In addition, the policy of denying paid sick/carer’s leave without a doctor’s certificate — with no exceptions — raises serious concerns about legality and fairness.
