Pros
-They seem to hire almost anyone willing to work.
-Many of the interpreters are kind.
-It's a pleasure meeting people from similar backgrounds daily.
-We get paid for mileage, but this comes out to significantly less pay than our hourly wage.
Cons
-Every interpreter has a second or third job.
-The hours are "flexible" but sometimes you have gaps in between appointments. So you might get paid 4 hours to work one day, but with the gaps in between appointments, you will be out of your home for 6 or 7 hours.
-You find out what hours you work a day or two before the day you have to work.
-Some days you work one hour, some days you work more. Not consistent.
-You get no health benefits. You get NO PTO.
-You may work very intense cases, and minimal mental health support is offered.
-They do pay mileage, but you will waste many more hours driving around when you have large gaps between appointments.
-They have unpaid opportunities for training, but in this economy, that's very difficult to do. So it is very hard to grow within the company.
