Pros

First of all I will like to mention that internally Kony is divided into 2 different companies. Kony Labs takes care of the Kony framework and is responsible to add latest features to it. So basically it is a product based company. Kony IT Services is a client based company which uses Kony framework to develop applications for clients (mostly banking and health care sector). Both the offices are also located at different buildings, 3Kms from each other. - No fixed working hours. - Fastly growing and getting popular. - The quality of the employees hired is good and they have good technical knowledge. - There are some teams in Kony Labs like cloud, platform where you can work on latest technologies. - Good compensation. No meaningless deductions from salary, no variable bonus (as of now). After deducting PF, Gratuity and Taxes from the CTC, you will get everything as in hand salary. - Good onsite opportunities for Kony IT Services employees. You can expect it even if you have around 2 years of experience of Kony (provided you are lucky enough and have good relations with your seniors).

Cons

- Most of the important things such as salary hikes, promotions, ratings, rewards and recognition, onsite opportunities, quality of work is based on luck, No matter how good you perform or how many hours you spend in office. - Nothing to learn for an entry level person, specially in Kony IT Services. You will have to work on Kony framework which have capability to deliver applications on all the platforms like Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Windows. But at the end of the day, a developer will only learn to drag and drop Kony widgets and to write some small JS codes (that too with Kony APIs). There is no Java or Objective C or C# involved as many might expect. There are some teams in Kony Labs where work is good and you will get a chance to work on latest technologies. But again it depends on your luck as well as your relationships with the senior persons that you get in those teams. - Though working hours are not fixed, in Kony IT Services, most of the times there will be a huge amount of pressure on you and you will have to work for average 9-10 hours per day. - Resource management team has got a lot of idiots in it. Even a developer can be assigned to do a full time QA work. - There is a huge partiality between the Kony IT Services and Kony Labs employees. Kony Labs people always enjoy the privilege of Team and Spot Awards, Team Outings. - Telugu is the official language of Kony. Most of the Managers, Leads and Developers will communicate in Telugu 90% of the time. Collectively I will say that for a person who wants to learn and work on latest technology, please stay away from Kony IT Services. Kony Labs is far better than Kony IT Services and you can consider to join. For local people who want to live in Hyderabad, and have more than 7-8 years of experience, Kony could be a very good choice. Compensation and Salary Hikes are good as compared to other companies.

Pros

The employees are great. Most people are very smart and passionate about what they do. In the time I was there I never had any problem working with anyone in the company. Always someone to go to lunch with and lots of staff drinks after work (mostly organized by staff and not management) Good flexibility for work-life balance...for some people

Cons

- Disorganized. - Not diverse. - No support for career advancement/training/certification/education - Totally inconsistent with a lack of focus. Strategic direction seems to change every 6 months and it never makes complete sense. - Leadership is tone deaf to the market and is not willing to adapt. Stubbornness is why nothing is selling and the company is falling apart. - Top Leadership doesn't engage with employees unless they feel like they have to. - HR is beyond useless and gossips about EVERYONE. There is no confidentiality in HR. - Lots of recent turnover with long time employees because of messed up operations and managers egos. - LOTS of people have left to go work for the founder of Kony at his new company, or they left to go back to their old jobs. - TERRIBLE operations. Travel policy is crazy!!! Some people can't afford to come out of pocekt and be reimbursed for almost everything. $7k in expenses for travel is ridiculous!
