Pros
- Not in Reston. - The pay/benefits are pretty good for a start up. - Pretty easy to get away with doing nothing if you're into that sort of thing because of the lack of accountability.
Cons
- There is a lot of doublespeak to the point where I've often felt gaslighted. I'll be told {A} one week, then the next week it's "{B}! We never told you {A}" and then the week after that it's "we really expected you to step up and {A}." Lots of invalidation of feelings as well (e.g., 'I don't feel included in the team' 'Well that's just not true') - The management culture here encourages a lot of talking about problems and their solutions but does not actively encourage implementation of solutions. You know the type - committees for everything but nobody gets anything done. - Layoffs cut the number of people at the company in half. This was not addressed despite management being warned about dropping morale. As a result, the most senior people are quitting or have already quit. - No upward mobility. Not much opportunity for mentorship now that most of the senior-level people are gone.
