Pros
YC & Thiel fellowship
Cons
Work Environment: You might have come across this company and must be thinking, "YC and Thiel fellowship" this must be a Top tire cool startup. But in reality, it is nowhere near to be called even a Startup. No Work ethics, way below market compensation, Unethical policies, and Toxic Environment. Every activity of yours is being monitored by management, they keep their eyes on you and your desktop screen, literally on surveillance. Every Ins & Outs are noted too. All you have to do the entire day is to sit on your desk and look at your screen. You’re not even allowed to eat on your desk. All discussions take place when you’re leaving. “E.O.D.” is a thing here, everyone has to stand in a queue and wait for their turn to speak, just like daily wage laborers collect their compensation in those typical Bollywood movies. Overtime is a norm here, even on Saturdays, which are supposed to be half days. Even if you come on time but dare to leave on time, you will be called “Unprofessional”. If you get delayed for a few hours while reaching office, due to some reason like raining and flooded roads, or some personal / family reasons you will be called “Irresponsible”. When it comes to their responsibility, they don’t even pick your calls or reply to your mail if your employment has ended, they won’t even entertain your request for your own documents. Timings: Sharp 9:30 to not so sharp 6:30. You’re expected to be on time; it doesn’t matter whether you left from office last night late. Management expects you to stay beyond the official timing. Many of the time, you will find yourself working till 10 PM and the management wouldn’t even ask you for dinner or snacks and neither about transportation while leaving so late. Also, you might find yourself or your colleagues skipping lunch, skipping doctor's appointments and working almost a full day on Saturday because of a load of almost daily deployment or app release. Policies: Policies comprise of a 6 months probation without any paid leave. Which may extend, and in most cases easily extends to two-three months. If you take leave during probation both, a leave and an equivalent amount will be deducted. If I had an option to rate ZERO in Culture values and Senior manager I must have done it. Since culture is dead and management has no skills or experience. Female employees haven’t even been hired. So I won’t even suggest anyone bother to apply, it will be a waste of time and energy both. According to them, the Notice Period is 2 months, which is non-negotiable. There is no buyout option, although documents say something else. And if you ask them for a buyout they give you legal action threats. Product and Development: Redundant features, Unmanageable/Unmaintainable code, Last moment changes, and Dumb fixes. The product is a mess with no sense of direction. No proper documentation, every conversation is stored in the head of individuals. So, after you’re done with the implantation, mostly you’ll get “this is not what we need”. The communication gap of management is your fault. But on the other hand, you have to provide a timeline for everything. The CEO who is also the leader of the tech team doesn’t know anything about product development, neither he has the expertise nor the working experience of a single live product. But always puts his ego first and ignores others. Field (Sales and Marketing): From a field employee’s perspective, most of the time management talks and treats them in a very rude way. You will not be provided any Android smartphone for the company’s work and you have to use your own mobile phone for that. It doesn’t matter if you have one or not, you have to buy it otherwise you’ll lose the job. In interviews, they only select candidates who have an Android phone compatible with the Company's Application. Also if a certain feature of the company’s application doesn’t run on your device, they will ask you to buy a new phone irrespective of how much you earn or how much money you have with you. You might even turn out to be a newly joined member spending more money than you earn in a month.
