Pros
Hospitals are fairly stable in a poor economy. People have to have health care and it is one of the last things people give up. One can transfer to other hospitals in the Adventist network and keep the time in grade eg seniority. Our hospital is in a beautiful location in the Miami Valley and there are many parks that the city fathers have seen fit to provide for the citizens. There are several new additions that can enhance the work place and standing in the community, there is going to be a new "heart hospital" to be built in the next 2 years.
Cons
It brags of being one of the best in the nation but works very hard at looking good while short changing the quality in many ways. In the past they have had a person on hire to study, as one example, what specific things a rating organization is asking this year. We are so obsessed with getting awards and things that bring Status to the organization that the patient can fall thru the cracks, we do not have the staff to give good care in many cases. The growth of the network is of great importance to the leadership and seems to be more important than the patient.
