Pros

KPMG is a challenging workplace that will help you grow to help you understand the profession more. You are often given opportunities to grow and try new things. Additionally, they are supportive of you getting your CPA, even providing Becker materials. The pay is fairly competitive and you have a chance to make great connections. Generally, you are working with great peers who are quick to help if you are struggling to grasp a task. A big 4 firm that has a lot of respect and will look spectacular on your resume.

Cons

Management clearly decides who is their favorite and pour endlessly into them. This is amplified when you are paired with management who may not show any favoritism towards you. It's also clear that some senior members of the team don't actually understand aspects of the audit as if you ask a question, they cannot provide any insight into a solution. Sometimes, the most help you can get when a client is giving you a hard time is "do the best you can", which shows a clear lack of backbone for management to actually support junior team members. Busy seasons can be mentally taxing, having to work 70- 80 hour work weeks.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
