Again, it really varies program to program, they have over 40, I have experience with 8 of them. In general though:
Janus is a very white agency. Little diversity in staff. Would like to see this improve.
The pay is not great. However, they are a non-profit and I understand being limited by grants.
Unfortunately, low pay means high turn-over. I saw this in a lot of the programs. This is stressful for the line staff, as they usually take the brunt of it. Again, not unique to Janus.
Some staff in some of the programs exhibit toxic behaviors that can create an unhealthy work environment- most of these staff are the ones who have been there 10 plus years. Again, not unique to Janus though.
Working with youth in high-risk situations is a hard thing to do. This is not the agencies fault, just the nature of the job. It's can be very emotionally and mentally draining.
