Pros
Career opportunities are incredible, salary is competitive, benefits are pretty good (I joined the last year they offered a pension), my manager is incredible, flexible schedule, flex work space (3 days in the office, 2 days remote).
Cons
I expect this to be similar across most top pharma companies, but the issues I face in GRA is incredibly heavy workload and we have little to no support as company overall is trying to minimize workers, but maximize outcome. My average work week is 50-60 hours per week, sometimes 70-80. Depending on your team you could end up with a manager that is a stickler which is incredibly difficult in GRA as working hours can range from extremely early morning to late nights. I have meetings at anytime from 5:30AM-7:30AM and then 9PM-11PM on a weekly basis, one time even at 4:30AM. If your manager is a stickler, they'll still expect you to come into the office even with these crazy meeting times. The company does not want to hire full time employees and it is cheaper to hire contractors, but the huge issue with contractors is by the time they are trained and efficient at the workload, they find a full time position somewhere else and leave and we then are back to square one. Last thing is there is an expectation to wear multiple hats that are outside of your job description. At the moment I am supporting development of a SAAS system for regulations for submissions globally, I am doing Data Architect work as well as supporting Machine Learning/AI efforts, but still committed to my full time job description. However, due to being salary, I'm not getting paid for the overbearing amount of work that I am supporting with the SAAS efforts. I could be working for Uber for the extra 10-20 hours a week to make an extra 20-30k/year, while the bonus is 7-10% a year and you get cash awards, but they are not equal to the amount of work you put in.
