Pros
Ionis gives scientists a lot of freedom. To choose their own projects. The organization is also very transparent. Low level employees can meet with high level managers and even streak to the ceo. Most big decisions are discussed out in the open to give all scientists an opportunity to give feedback.
Cons
No one gets promoted before they have worked for two years. Too much of your compensation is made in stock options. Fluidity of the workplace means that a lot of the work you do may be invisible to the boss responsible for promoting you.
