Pros
Non management employees are down to earth. Little drama, as I think nobody was trying to achieve much (career wise) there. There's definitely autonomy, since they only care about results, not necessarily how you achieve them. Enjoyed the variety of cultures there, potluck days where we'd get a variety of dishes for everyone to enjoy. Work life balance is good, since there's little striving to be seen.
Cons
Management will always put on a happy face, but will keep most employees at low salaries compared to the rest of the industry. Certainly not keeping up salary increases compared to inflation. New management positions are never hired from within, in spite of clear candidates. This isn't just in a single department, but all that I've seen. The technology stack was old, last time I was there, and with little taste for utilizing new libraries.
