Where do I start?
Staff turnover rate is through the roof! Without exaggerating there have been 200 people come and go since the company started less than 10 years ago... to the point that they had to poach employees from their main competitor and you will now see 75% of managers have come from ClearSky Accouning and they’ve been bribed with higher salaries and promises of progression.
Everyone is under an immense amount of pressure and there doesn’t ever seem to be any praise from the management for jobs well done. It might be because the management sets completely unrealistic targets and so when someone actually works 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to reach that target, the management deem that to be part of that person’s role to reach set targets, therefore no praise is necessary... it’s all very disheartening!
Employees are constantly disrespected, there’s a horrible atmosphere in the office and office politics are the worst I’ve ever seen (and I’ve worked for a number of accounting firms in my days).
Training new staff is carried out by incompetent assistants/semi seniors so work is never carried out to a high standard, in fact it’s all very below standard in this profession.
Simple tasks take weeks to complete, even when the matter is urgent, for example a mortgage reference or visa reference is required to ensure that a client’s family is allowed to remain in the country with them... It’s really sad to see really. Managers don’t seem to be able to cope with the amount of work so cherry pick the tasks depending on whichever is easiest at the time, not whichever is the most urgent.
The advice the managers are told to give to their clients is borderline tax evasion, although they still call it ‘tax planning’.
To summarise, I wouldn’t recommend you join this company as an employee unless you want to be brain washed into believing you’re worthless and you want your ambitions crushed. I also wouldn’t recommend you join this company as a client as the accounting (and most importantly tax) advice is very low quality.
You’ve been warned and you join at your own risk.
