Pros

I was brought in Apr 2013 to help move the software products forward, and deal with technical debt. I hope to counter the 2 negative reviews I see here. The founders have big hearts, willing to listen and change. The core product (awesome and powerful, first of it's kind) has kept them at the forefront of the pump/fluid handling industry. It's cool to watch Google Analytics in real-time and see users on our apps from all around the globe. Impressive. Lots of new opportunities to re-architect our major legacy app. Lots of new opportunities to develop modern UIs and brand new Rails apps.

Cons

The age of the product is showing, and there is a lot of technical debt to work around. Need about 2x the dev staff, as it is hard to move quickly on legacy code base. But this is not that unusual!

Pros

This is a generally great place to work. Management is friendly and very approachable. They are truly good people who are understanding of outside-of-work issues and are very flexible as long as you show yourself to be a hardworking and trustworthy employee. A lot of leeway is given to software developers to pursue areas that interest them. This is probably my favorite part of working here. You're given as much responsibility as you can prove you're able to handle. And the more you prove yourself, the more leeway you're given. With the company being relatively small, there's plenty of interesting work to go around for those that want to try new things and expand their skill set. This alone makes Intelliquip a fantastic place to work, even in spite of the cons I have listed below. Most of the people that work here are great. The atmosphere is generally laid-back and most people work hard and have each other's backs. There's really no cutthroat mentality present here; everyone seems to work for everyone's benefit. Another thing worth mentioning is that the skill level of the employees here is very high. I work with a team of extremely talented software developers and it has really helped me step up my own game. Every single day that goes by I feel like I've learned more valuable skills. There are plenty of little perks the company provides: free snacks, nice chairs, standing desks upon request, extremely nice coffee/cappuccino machine, etc... The office is a really nice place to be. Its open and fairly modern without feeling industrial. The location in downtown Bethlehem is ideal (free parking in municipal parking garages is provided for all employees). The company is willing to pay for relevant training in areas where employees express interest if it would be of benefit to the company. This is a nice perk. The majority of employees are not full-time remote, but good flexibility is given to the software developers to work from home when needed. Lastly, I feel like this company is positioned to be around for a while. It's run very competently and the business prospects moving forward seem to be good.

Cons

The pay is average at best. This company has some extremely talented individuals working for it, but it's easy to get the feeling that they're trying to figure out just how little they can get away with paying their current employees while still hiring new ones as quickly as they need. The healthcare is extremely expensive. Working here is a much easier choice if you have a spouse with good benefits. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if the pay were a little better, but the combination of average pay and poor benefits isn't great.
