Pros
Difficult one this - relaxed atmosphere and some nice colleagues. Analyst jobs give chance to learn what goes on in the world and serves as a decent entry to the industry if you can put up with the negatives. Management at the company level is good and approachable (the problems start at the parent company level).
Cons
Join as an entry level analyst and it will be poor pay, horrible shifts and repetitive work. Get promoted and you have an impressive title for the length of time but still bad pay, repetitive work and you still just do data entry and call it analysis. Middle of nowhere in Durham so cheapish living but considering the lack of pay raises even for those who have been there years you couldn't survive elsewhere. Rules are inconsistent and some staff that should have been fired get rewarded, mainly thanks to HR (which came in with the Sigma7 buy out) being useless. The direction from the umbrella company Sigma7 is pathetic - loads of execs changing their minds and rewarding themselves while the people who actually do the work get shafted, vanity projects waste money then get canned. No perks, no rewards and lots of unfulfilled promises. Stay long enough and you will get Stockholm syndrome and begin to thing that grinding it out for peanuts in the hope of one day being rewarded in some way is normal.
