Pros
I had a wonderful experience working with I4DI as an intern one summer and a part-time Junior Consultant intern! As an undergraduate student interested in international development, working at I4DI was perfect! It peaked my interest and gave me valuable skills and insights that I have carried with me!
-All of the employees were WONDERFUL! They were all very accomplished, willing to help, driven, compassionate and smart. Everyone communicates so well! I am still in touch with many of them!
-I had a lot of independence and autonomy, which made me feel like I had responsibility and encouraged me to work hard! I appreciated the flexibility and appreciated that creativity was encouraged!
-I was given many learning opportunities which included attending meetings with clients, reviewing reports, getting taught directly from other employees, listening in on partner calls, and participating in webinars.
-I was able to learn different software for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
-I was exposed to multiple different projects that were occurring at the same time.
Cons
-The company is a bit small, so if everyone is traveling, it is a bit empty.
-I liked the autonomy and creativity I was given and after some time, I eventually had a much better idea of my tasks. But, I would have appreciated a bit more rigid expectations/direction in the beginning to ensure that my work met the goals/standards of the task.
