Pros

Opportunity to work as an underwriter

Cons

I worked two claims for this company in November of 2019, the first assignment was as an underwriter, the second assignment was as inspector. Both assignments were issued to me at the same time and both were completed to the best of my ability. On the underwriting assignment I was told that they sent someone else out their to reinspect my work and could not pay me for the claim. On the second assignment, it was a high roof, so I did as instructed and got the certificate of completion from the cities building department. On both of these assignments, I went without compensation when I completed the work. The contact I was in communication with regarding these claims told me that he would see about issuing me gas for the 2-hour drive for the underwriting inspection and for the work performed on the roof. On both of these assignments I have not been compensated for time or assignment.

Pros

Work your own schedule. Fly your drone for minimal income.

Cons

Much more is expected of you then just flying a drone for photos. There is a good deal of paperwork and a lot of scheduling and rescheduling with policyholders. On average, each assignment takes 3 to 4 hours to complete, taking into account travel, onsite inspection, and report preparation for submission. You are paid a fixed amount. Drone pilots are penalized for not completing an assignment on time. The pay does not match the work involved and you are not compensated for all the driving. After assessing all costs, you barely make anything. Cons - Inconsistent workload, uncompensated travel, a lot of paperwork, a lot of scheduling appointments, dealing with angry customers and neighbors. People don't like to see drones flying around in their neighborhoods.
