The technology and mission of this company is outstanding. There is true innovation and vision, and so much potential with the right leadership. It is exciting to be a part of life changing technology and on the edge of discovery. Lots of opportunities to learn and get hands on.
Cons
Much of the R&D department has been in the same positions for 10+ years, which means they are experts but at the same time lack the fresh perspective and other professional experience needed to ensure that the employee experience is pleasurable, fairly compensated, and human- affirming. The work is important but extremely time and labor intensive, often requiring late or all nighters, weekend and holiday travel, and last minute flights that frequently go unrecognized (and uncompensated) by leadership. Limited time off and very short staffing mean there is minimal flexibility, even during sickness or personal events. Significant communication breakdown occurs between teams, both within departments and internationally. Lower level managers try their best to progress and innovate but are often blocked by red tape.
