Granted, I was a freelancer so I don't have the full scope of the horrors that happened at Influenster, but I couldn't believe the way in which this place of business was run. The first and most apparent thing that I noticed was the LACK of diversity in a modern NYC office. You can count the number of people of color in the office with one hand.
Secondly, you are watched like a hawk. There are rumors that the CEOs watch the employees through the cameras that are set up around the office. Everything here, the work streams, teh meetings, the way the business is set up is inefficient and is all just busy work - which extremely bogs down your work/life balance and you are churning out emails and proposals all day. It seems like there is no real desire to improve this inefficiency from the managers, directors, or the Founders (also I don't know if they understand that this is a huge problem).
Lastly everyone who was probably a good thing for the company has realized and left (for the better) because the founders have antagonized, micromanaged, and belittled prospective change makers within the company to leave.
At the end of the day -everyone here is super stressed out, and works in fear. Don't even get me started on the slack culture that exists here - it is insane how almost everyone's dirty laundry is left out on slack and the founders have been involved with these public shaming and other company conversations that should definitely not been on the #general Slack.
I am so glad that I am gone and have left this place behind.
