Supporting people who we serve in this field is work that is full of joy and interpersonal connection. There are many opportunities for overtime. Employees are listened to, given opportunity to grow and improve, and concerns are addressed,

Turnover is high, but that is typical in this field. Lots of changes in middle management, specifically, because management is often overburdened with a sometimes impossible combination of leadership tasks and direct service tasks. Folks doing both direct service and leadership roles simultaneously must give over a big chunk of their lives to meet the mission and to feel like they are doing their jobs well. This is hard emotional work, sometimes physically demanding as well. The reward has to be enough for someone personally, especially at the middle management level, to be able to consistently work at least 10-15 hours of overtime weekly.
