Policies made on the whim of a higher-up. CEO wanted open office, so they made an open office, regardless of how terrible it is for the employees. Needed to concentrate to do my job. Impossible. Open office was to "encourage communication in a studio". Then VP chastises development for talking too much.
VP makes game design changes and art changes at will. Then criticizes project takes too long. Creativity strangled as VP turns to cookie cutter, assembly line approach.
If you don't toe a line that you don't even know about, you are let go. There is zero job security. Salary ok, bonuses subjective, tho say they are royalty based. Royalty formula is never shown, so can be adjusted as desired to get desired amount, AFAIK.
Little room for advancement. Pigeonholed into job. Specialized to the point that finding new job is nightmare. Non-compete wipes out only jobs could reasonably get.
Supposed to be cooperation btwn studios, but several are militant not wanting to share ideas unless you ask n get permission. IP strategically not company owned, if desired by the favorites.
Rampant favoritism. Seemingly random firings. Very low morale. High stress.
