Pros
you can come in after hours and make up lost time
Cons
the boss regularly expressed that he wanted employees to work as long as possible, especially salaried employees. he would pressure employees to work more, and hold promotions over their heads to make them comply. "everyone is their own manager" as this is what the boss wanted. if anything goes wrong, and you're in that chain of it going wrong in any way, shape or form, you will be thrown under the bus. no benefits at all in the way of Healthcare or 401k the boss will use anything you do as leverage against you. you clocked out late for lunch and went to take care of something? it will be brought up. three months ago, you made a mistake? it will be brought up against you again and again. promises, and bonuses were regularly thrown around, but never delivered. if they are brought up, they will either be dismissed or you'll get a small portion of what was promised with a made up reason why it didn't happen. the boss will claim he forgot. no matter how much work you do, no matter what you accomplish, the boss will not acknowledge it or give any value to it. the boss will regularly twist things to suit him, or force jobs through without notifying anyone that it needs to be done. you're a work horse; they will never go out and actually fire you unless you give them back the same attitude. but they will berate you over and over again, from 15-60 minutes talks in front of your peers, letting everyone know how much you messed up.
