Pros

Opportunity to learn about a new industry. Relaxed dress code. Most colleagues are supportive and helpful.

Cons

Owner seems to be making it up as they go. They lack basic management skills and professionalism which will directly impact you and make your job much more difficult. Instructions given to you are often vague and contradictory. Company policy and direction can change frequently without explanation or even notification. You must constantly press to get real answers and sometimes you will never get them. A big part of the job is to make up for the owner’s incompetence and lack of work ethic. You spend most days hoping they don’t become involved in your project because you want it to go smoothly. When their decisions go wrong, they blame others while you deal with the consequences. Critical feedback is met with a dismissive attitude or meaningless slogans. You can also be fired at the convenience of the owner even if you meet your goals. Despite some big talk, you won’t feel like a respected employee and your hard work isn’t rewarded as promised. Turnover is high for a reason. Stay away.

Pros

Company has deep knowledge of the APAC region. Owner is multi-lingual. Owner studied design and combined that expertise with project management to develop a company that other exhibit companies have come to rely on. Very ethical approach to business in a region not always known for that. Great 24/7 customer service.

Cons

Owner need to vet employees better. Not all of them share his work ethic.

Pros

Staff provides detailed direction on project management and is open to discussing new opportunities as they come available. Idea International is highly responsive and language barriers have never been an issue as many employees are multilingual. The management has strong respect for my input.

Cons

Working with international clients requires adaptive time management.
