Pros

1. Flexible Office Hours. No concept of check in - check out. 2. Work from home options are available, but not on regular basis. 3. A decent work/life balance due to above reasons. 4. Subsidized food (as stated by some HR's and some senior managers).

Cons

1. No innovation. 2. Very less opportunity to learn new technologies (except Spotfire). 3. You cannot master a technology as all the good stuffs will be done by Architect (as per request of their boss), and you will be working on the same things, small UI stuff with Vaadin and some services with Hibernate and if fortunate enough, you might work on creating stored procedures, oracle types etc.. PL/SQL stuffs. 3. People from core development background with around 4 yrs of experience might be hired and asked to do testing in case enough test resources are not available or to work with Spotfire (A reporting tool) in case less development task is available for a release. 4. In some projects even BA, Architects/Leads from concerned technologies, Managers are not available and a developer ends up performing all these tasks without any guidance and lastly end up getting screwed from business on every expects as some business members don't want to leave excel sheets. 5. No point in having an idea for a better solution as you will judged based on your position in the organization. 6. Contract employees are initially appreciated for better work, but during appraisals the feed back provided to parent companies are worst. You know the reason, why? 7. Not even a single refreshment area, no options for refreshment activity like playing indoor games/sports, etc.

Pros

The layoffs were handled quietly and unexpectedly, even though there were some early signs. They didn’t share who else was affected, but it was clearly more than just me.

Cons

They’re doing layoffs in phases, and my position was part of the most recent round.
