Pros
Opportunity is there for moving up, but must drink the Kool-Aid. Starting pay is good for management. Vacation is good. Management is generally fair and open to hearing you out. They value hard work.
Cons
Everyone in management takes Hy-Vee way too seriously as far as a life-long career. Most have never worked in the real world anywhere else. It would serve them well to have a little perspective. It's a job to most of us employees, not a lifestyle. I'm not working 50 hrs a week, sorry. Benefits are mediocre as they try to sell you as many insurance and financial products (Midwest Heritage Bank, a Hy-Vee Company!) as possible so you have no take home money, it all gets spent with the company . Borderline illegal on things such as telling employees they can't discuss pay among one another. Forcing you to do certain health oriented things to get a break on health premiums such as flu shots/bio-metric screenings (this helps them too). They can't make you do those things, nor can they fire you for talking about wages, legally.
