Cons
The two owners are new to food service and undervalue labor when it should be the most valuable assets to them as they can not maintain any of the stations they expect their employees to know how to do. They consistently put staff in the position to run around when understaffed rather than close an hour early or shut down coffee. After voicing concerns about their lax COVID policies, they dismissed me. They will put the comfort of the customers over the safety of the staff. The nepotism rings loud at Hot Cakes as their son is a store manager. The last straw for me was when I requested to cut my hours by 4 hours and they told me either I worked 40 hours or 15 hours with a position demotion and pay cut. “That’s just what the business needs” was the reason they gave for the outrageous counter offer. This company is VERY out of touch with their business. Being honest and staying true.
