Great place to work until Andy Bagnall became C.E.O. - Anonymous employee Hospital Sisters Health System Employee Review

Pros

All departments are miserable together.

Cons

No job security. Andy Bagnall did 3 rounds of furloughs and 3 rounds of lay-offs then made T.V. and radio appearances to tell the public how understaffed we are. The people who volunteered to furlough and were laid off instead of brought back received no unemployment, a fact that HSHS failed to tell people when they asked us to furlough. Unemployment considers this a voluntary exit. Employees are overworked because Andy Bagnall got rid of everyone and is requiring those left to take on other jobs. This hospital is extremely nurse centric. If you are not a nurse you will receive no recognition, you stand very little chance of promotion, and you will not recieve the same benefits. The promises you are made upon hire are quickly broken and if you voice concern you are told that policy states that your responsibilities can change at any time. You must find your own coverage for vacation or you cannot go, this is policy, so you should hope your coworkers will cover you.

Pros

Best work environment I've seen in healthcare. Everyone is friendly and works together. They also have a fantastic residency program for new grads.

Cons

As every place, they expect too much from staff and you may not feel supported by management. However I will say that my opinion is colored by me working night shift.

Pros

Clinical staff were great, lots of skills to be gained, building is clean and spacious, in and outdoor seating for lunch, cheap insurance compared to other local healthcare organizations

Cons

30 minute lunch, only one microwave and two lunch shifts for entire office, have to use your PTO when they are closed for holidays and in my opinion you do not get much time the first 5 years, the office manager at that time (no longer there) was difficult to be around, same responsibilities and workload as LPN and RN with much less pay of course
