Pros
Fortune 500 company. Honeywell is nice envirionment to challenge yourself and learn about the dynamics and soft skills essential to success at a large, multinational, publicly trade company.
Cons
The most prominent downside of working at Honeywell Aerospace is a culture that promoted short term benefits and the expense process, people, and reputation. Too often the fluid periodic and annual goals are accomplished without a fundamental review, understanding, risk mitigation, or accountability of the various actions and strategies engaged to meet these goals. Too often solutions brokered on department and personal reputations, future business opportunities, or various other compromises are reneged upon, unilaterally re-interpreted, or blatantly disregarded to satisfy the short term metrics without accountability for any associated collateral damage. The results are a culture who responds to business policy as recommendations versus organization reliability, integrity, or predictability; a culture who has disappointed their internal peer groups to a level where mutual cooperation/cross functional problem solving without direct senior management engagement is rare; a culture where your company’s brand with external customers, partners, and various industry insiders disqualifies you from various discussions based on a series of documented events where your company has and continues to underperform on their commitment. Relating this observation with comments from the “Pros” section, as Fortune 500 company, Honeywell’s overall revenue value proposition will afford you the opportunity to redefine the predominant culture. The question is do I want to make a career of changing culture everyday when the conditions that fosters this culture remains unchanged?
