Pros

Provided catering for some days in holiday season and does a weekly payroll schedule.

Cons

Gives employees hell for needing to "void" a transaction (having to remove a scanned product from the register machine after a customer changes their mind about purchasing) even after asking the customer if they are sure about a product at least one or twice. The training manager is the worst to work with; they were the main manager out of the four that made it a hostile environment (unless you had been a regular for at least two years). Funny how as the training manager, they didn't do an ounce of training and left it to a regular employee to show me the register and made me work alone on my register on my second day during peak hours. Another manager was two-faced and also showed favoritism toward the regular employees, letting one goof around and, a few times, having them void a transaction (in retail only managers are authorized to do this) which gave them power to treat seasonal workers horribly. Don't let it be closing, they will keep the college students for an hour or two, even if the store is cleaned up; it just has to have a certain aesthetic for the manager who is opening. I'm not joking; the store was neat, we were told once that the manager (who isn't the store manager, which would be different) who was opening liked to see the store a certain way and kept us for another hour. I could go into the discrimination I also witnessed against employees and customers, but that would be a lot to explain; it also wasn't only the managers' (that's just Bayside/Long Island people for you). Overall, it's not a good experience. I understand it's retail, but many things could've been prevented. The only thing I couldn't 100% hold against them for was the push of store credit cards (it's business and retail, no shocker).

Pros

it is a job if you desperately need one

Cons

management does not keep promises (e.g. I was promised $2 higher pay upon accepting the position and later was told it wasn't feasible anymore once starting. I was also promised a specific day off then last minute had it revoked because they decided to make it a mandatory day). management does not listen to or care about its employees, very unprofessional. store managers don't want to do anything to help, they just sit in the office. management let other employees slack off and do nothing and expected others to compensate for their lack of effort general manager was horribly rude and misogynistic. he threw a box at someone while visiting.
