Pros

The office is located quite close to the main road, so commuting is not much of an issue. The compensation is a bit high since they're not finding anyone to hire.

Cons

Over the last year, things have gotten from bad to worse. Currently the company has the following vacancies: 1) Head of Product - position vacant since >1 year after firing the previous guy. 2) Head of QA - position vacant since 3 months 3) Head of HR - sudden leave taken by HR head. I wonder why. 4) Tech lead - quit recently after spending >2 years. In the last 6 months, the COO - probably one of the more competent people in the company - has left/been asked to leave, and has been replaced with a clueless executive from the investor company. The executive has zero understanding of HolidayIQ and user-generated content, which shows in his conversations - full of jargon without any meaning or substance. The tech lead who was probably the only guy in the company who understood tech and app, is leaving. The CTO is an arrogant person who engages in partiality and does not judge reportees fairly. His technical knowledge is probably from the late 90s, with absurd suggestions on DB architecture. Most of the senior developers have left/are on notice. There is literally no scope for innovation and autonomy in the tech team - most developers are afraid of discussing even small improvements to code with the CTO, since he has built up this aura of arrogance and bureaucracy. Due to a lack of QA, live bugs are pushed into code often which show up when angry customers write back. The Product team is full of newbies who change specs often, without thinking things through. Even the Product team is shrinking! The CEO has decent ideas ideas but the rate at which he changes his mind is stunning. HolidayIQ was focused on getting Video Reviews - a new initiative - over the last year, but now that has been completely forgotten. Right now he's focused on building his own brand on Facebook. I don't think any money is being spent on promoting HolidayIQ as a brand. It is rare to find more than 10% of the company working on 1 dedicated idea. There is ONE person on the app team - yes, both Android and iOS put together. All the remaining ones were fired. No one really wants to join the company - e.g. it took ONE YEAR to fill the dev-ops vacancy and at least 200 interviews to get a software developer - who quit within 2 months because he was doing absolutely pointless work. The culture is really bad, with a sarkari mentality prevailing across all business lines and functions. Everything moves very, very slowly here. It's fair to say that joining HolidayIQ (particularly on the tech side) is a really bad idea. Join only if you're desperate.
