Lack of Management - Front Desk Agent Holiday Inn Express Employee Review

Pros

If you enjoy always working alone, you will enjoy it.

Cons

When things would go wrong, or would be out of a front desk agent control, management would not be supportive, or timely in helping you. For example, when the elevator would break, and I would have people in wheelchairs not able to get to there rooms on the second floor, and every room booked on the first floor, management did not come in to help mediate the issue, or help to get maintenance there ASAP. You would be stuck alone (dangerous for young women also), and would have guests yelling at you when there is nothing in your power to help. Management was not on property often. Another example was when people needed help with something in their rooms, there were no safety procedures taken, and I would have to enter a stranger's room without anyone else's knowledge of my whereabouts. I am surprised nothing ever happened when I was in those rooms. Would not recommend for women.

Pros

So much downtime to whatever you want. Especially as a college student, I could do all my homework at work, and since I workout and play basketball, I could literally exercise there too. I was playing games on my laptop, switch, xbox, all at work because it was so chill and such an easy job.

Cons

Pay is not that good because you're not doing much work. Not really opportunity for growth unless you move to a different and nicer hotel.
