Pros
- They accept zero-experience candidates or fresh graduates. - You can learn a lot here, especially if you are just starting out on your career - You can gain hands-on experience in many testing - physical testing, chemical testing, and handling instruments since they have many good laboratory instruments such as UV-Vis, GC, HPLC, Dissolution, FTIR, etc. - Most people I've worked with here are friendly and approachable. I've only had problems with the laboratory manager since she is very strict (but she already retired now). - There is overtime pay. - There are fun activities to look forward to every year such as the CEO's birthday and Year-end party, where there is free food and you can showcase your talents and can even win raffle prizes.
Cons
- The salary is not that competitive as compared to other companies. - They also do not offer as many benefits as other companies. They do not have HMO. There is an annual increase but not that much. - 6-day workweek (Mondays-Saturdays) - Workload can oftentimes be too much, which can lead you to render overtime. (E.g. too many samples that need to be tested in a day) - The test assigned to you on a day can change quite often because there are many instances when another "rush" sample needs to be prioritized. - There is no long-term career growth. When you've already worked for several years here and already have experience in all the instruments, there is not that much opportunity to advance your career (like going on a lead role), unless the team leader resigns.
