Pros
-worked with amazing people
-partnered with awesome brands
-made own schedule/flexible
Cons
-perceived politics and favouritism
-unrealistic expectations with almost zero training
-unrealistic car allowance with no room for compromise
-unmet expectations/ promises made with zero action
-I felt there was large emphasis on how the company was perceived on social media, not on employee happiness
I was promoted to a higher role after one year as a merchandiser, and after a month in the role and realizing the entire team was unhappy and it would be way too much stress for what it was worth- a very small raise for much more responsibility- I had a conversation expressing my wishes to go back to field merchandising and was thanked for my feedback and told I could absolutely go back to my former role, only to be terminated (very coldly) 2 weeks later right before a team event, which I had driven over an hour to get to. I left a job of 10 years to come to Hive, and to say it was a shock would be an understatement. My best piece of advice would be to always record important conversations at work, or get it in writing. My experience left me questioning the company’s morals and integrity.
