Pros
Great mission. People have best intentions to do good work. Has good reputation on the outside.
Cons
Internal operations can be highly chaotic and stressful as staff are exploited and expected to wear too many hats. Management is abusive. Yelling, backbiting and gaslighting are commonly done against people who may not be a part of the senior management clique. The common nonprofit phenomena where promotions are made of people for having excelled in program, while greatly lacking and never were taught leadership skills holds true in this organization. If you look closely, you will find consistent staff turnover with the exception of "the clique of about 8." If you've ever experienced an abusive, hostile relationship or work environment and excelled, then this is the place for you. If you are Black and/or a women and not part of "the clique," be prepared to experience additional slights here. Independent, creative thinking is not appreciated here, only at face value. Fragile egos and micromanaging are commonplace.
