Hire and Fire black people makes the company look bad. As soon as I started, not so long after I was hired, they fired the only black person on the team. Then they fired me for performance. Not to mention the feedback (the reason why I was fired) was not discussed with me prior to terminating me or given time for me to improve. The issues that were mentioned were extremely easy things to improve as I already knew how to correct them. However, I was not informed of these issues. So How would I have known to correct them if I was never informed of them?
I was informed in a meeting that if there was performance issues, that there would be discussions about it. There was never a discussion about any of the issues that was mentioned within the exception of one issue. I was given the impression that the issue was minor and to work on improving.
I wish I was given the time to discuss with team leads and management my thought process over the matter. I think the reason to fire me was extremely strange and weird. It did not make any sense. I found the job easy and repetitive. I found the entire system easy to use and easy to understand. As a new hire a month in a half working for the company, I was not given a chance to improve.
Everyone was nice in the beginning. However, I noticed a dramatic change in attitudes/atmosphere leading up to the time I got terminated. I started to feel ignored. My questions were going unanswered, and maybe I should not have asked many questions, but I was given the impression to ask all the questions even if they were dumb questions.
I wanted to try and fit in with the team because they all seem to have been tight-nit. I feel the reason for my termination may have been that as well. Maybe they thought I wasn't a cultural fit. But when you don't have any person of color on your team, then they aren't simply ready to get to know someone from a different perspective, a different way of learning and a different personality trait. All of which were not bad. I tried to fit in the best I could, but my way of fitting in was more-so asking questions.
I found this position incredibly easy and nothing difficult or hard about it.
My impression of the company in the beginning was extremely positive, but i noticed a sudden shift in attitudes a couple weeks leading up to my termination.
