Heat Transfer Research

Is this your company?

Working here is a mistake for many reasons. It does not have long term potential - Research Engineer Heat Transfer Research Employee Review

Pros

The salary and benefits are quite good and comparable with what might be expected in larger firms. There is so potential to do your own projects. The company does not really expect it's employees to put in long hours. Cows usually graze outside the building which can be quite relaxing, especially given the stress of the work environment/management.

Cons

The software is a horrible piece of code, written in the 70s that is still being sold for a premium price. Management is close to retirement and does not know or care how to direct research projects or software architecture. The constant turnover means that many projects are left unfinished and the wheel is constantly re-invented as new people come onboard and then re-visit the learning curve. The management is very demeaning towards their employees and treated us like little children that must be kept inline. The bonuses and salary adjustments were nearly non-existent. If you do end up working here, make sure to negotiate your salary!

Pros

Good healthcare benefits and work-life balance. Safe and secure job. There are some really good managers depending on the team you’re on.

Cons

Company lacks overall work culture. It’s better if you’re an aggie to fit in. It’s not necessary but it helps. Lots of meetings.
