I've been here a year now, content and not wanting to leave even though I know I can probably go somewhere else and earn 10% - 20% more. However this most recent annual review process was a gut punch to me. I got scored exceeding expectations in every category of the review, and only got a 2% raise with no discussion about it. If you ask me, in a NORMAL non inflation at 10% year, a 3% raise should be the minimum for cost of living increase. So to work at a place that I thought cared about employees, to be told that the work I am doing is exceptional and it was an incredibly good move for the company to hire me, and then be slapped with a 2% raise on a year with 10% inflation, was a serious gut punch to me. How on earth do you expect to retain top talent if you are paying your exceptional performers a meagerly 2% raise? I had thoughts of trying to work my way up the ranks at this company, but now I'm even questioning that. Will I eventually receive a promotion and be given another 2% raise and more responsibilities and a new job title and be expected to be happy? I'll tell you honestly, the first thing I did after my yearly review was update my resume, because as good as a team and individuals are to me, a place without career growth is no place to build a career.
