Pros
To be honest there isn't a lot that is good about working for HPB. The discounts on items were pretty good while I worked there but they've been cutting back on those I hear and the pay was so bad you really couldn't afford to buy anything anyway.
Cons
If you've been working for HPB since the 80's and 90's you're treated pretty well and the pay is even pretty good, but the company isn't investing in their "new" employees. They don't pay anything close to a living wage, and most employees live with each other struggling to pay rent, or have much more financially successful partners. Not only is it the policy of HPB to "not sensor" what they sell, meaning they will buy and sell even the most racist / homophobic stuff, but they also allow customers to bring weapons in to the store and walk around with them. Also office culture of HPB is incredibly toxic. Upper management are constantly having affairs with subordinates and older employees enjoy bullying newer employees with no reprimand from management. When issues with toxic work environment are taken to upper management everything is swept under the rug and ignored.
