Pros
Restricted Freedom of Speech and Thought: Employees seem to face limitations in expressing their opinions or thinking freely. They may be subjected to unspoken directives to isolate or shun a colleague if management decides to remove that individual. This creates a hostile environment, discourages open communication, and undermines trust among team members. I encountered significant challenges related to racism and sexism during my time at the company. As a person of color, I often felt the need to downplay my skills to fit in, and advancement seemed to favor those who distanced themselves from their identity. Women, especially, were outnumbered and often treated as competitors rather than colleagues, with management fostering a culture of favoritism and bias. The work environment was marred by unprofessional behavior, including trash-talking, dishonest performance evaluations, and a lack of recognition for skill and experience. The company also engaged in questionable practices, such as recording and grading calls from non-customers who would use abusive language, which would be treated as legitimate customer feedback. There is a lack of clear leadership, with confusion and competition among managers, leading to inconsistent decision-making. This lack of accountability results in no one taking genuine responsibility for major decisions, leaving employees in limbo. Employees may feel like they are being used as "guinea pigs," with their skills underutilized or stifled, rather than being given the opportunity to grow or contribute meaningfully. While the office setting itself was beautiful, the leadership and management culture left much to be desired, with favoritism and mediocrity frequently rewarded over genuine talent and hard work.
Cons
The interview, hiring, and onboarding process moves quickly, good for some people or feel rushed for others. While the starting pay is slightly better than some competitors for similar roles, it may not fully reflect the demands of the job. The company does make efforts to maintain a clean and well-stocked breakroom, which is appreciated, though it doesn't compensate for the deeper issues present.
