The CIO/CTO is destroying the company - Individual Contributor HCF (Australia) Employee Review

Pros

There are great people who genuinely try to help members.

Cons

The CIO constantly purchases expensive products that don't work, are not required, or are useless. The procurement process doesn't follow what is common everywhere. The offer from a vendor will be sent to procurement without proper engineering validation. Her people(middle engineering managers) push the procurement team to buy products with too many questionable items. There is a hearsay that even a chatbot vendor has asked her to provide testimonials with the HCF logo (before the procurement process being finalised or the product being used) and she has asked her people to send some testimonials. Her objectives are not the success of the business and its members Her objective is to make sure she can stay in power by having a charming character and showing off every month with her new purchase. Her behaviour has caused chaos and stress in different teams at HCF.

Pros

HCF is a rare thing: a company that actually doesn't just say it values inclusivity and a human touch, but actually empowers staff to put those values into practice. The working environment is genuinely lovely, with supportive colleagues and management. It feels good to work for a not for profit.

Cons

It's face-to-face customer service, which isn't really a negative for me but for some people it would be as there is no work from home in face-to-face customer service. The pay also isn't the most generous, because HCF is a not for profit insurer.
