Pros
Competitive pay Opportunity to specialize as new grad Amazing coworkers New director making positive changes and hiring more staff No crisis pay during COVID (only one laughable bonus of around $300) Nurses not given adequate food or sleeping arrangements during disaster (freeze)
Cons
Previous management with current admin did not staff or hire appropriately. Over the last year there has been a mass exodus of nurses seeking better pay and safer patient ratios. Patients are shuffled into ER rooms as soon as one is available with no regards to if the nurse is ready or able to take another patient Nurses clean the rooms 90% of the time- not enough housekeeping staff to keep unit clean. Nurses are forced to still take 3-4 additional patients even when they have critical 1:1 patients Unrealistic metrics with not enough staffing Lack of EMT techs on night shift (only 1 full time night tech) Triage nurse often forced to take 10+ patients in the lobby bc there are not enough nurses on the floor
