Pros
Being the largest apartment operator in the world, Greystar undoubtedly offers job opportunities for growth in markets where others cannot. Other strengths include offering one of the most comprehensive training & development as well as leadership training programs that this industry has to offer. Due to its size, you will naturally meet a lot of amazing and highly talented people as well as expose yourself to the latest industry trends, practices, services, and technologies. Due to its world wide recognition, having this company carries a heavy weight on your resume for future growth opportunities and make you stand out from the rest.
Cons
While being the largest property management company has its pros, there is a price to pay for being too focused on growth to be able to make people the priority. Being in a leadership role myself, I can tell you that the culture you experience here largely depends on where you are positioned in the company because at the end of the day, the leadership you report to and the client you work with overshadow the people-centered culture that this company projects but far too often misses the mark. Greystar also proclaims its focus on improving work-life balance where many of these positive changes are originated by talent development but far too often shot down by leadership or culture off its clients. Lastly, the corporate culture is highly clicky. If you are planning on coming to Greystar, be prepared to play the political game. If you are not your bosses favorite, be prepared to work a lot harder in your pursuit of excellence.
