Favoritism and Poor Workplace Culture - Nurse Educator Grand Strand Medical Center Employee Review

Pros

Using evidence-based practice to nurture, mentor, and educate the future nurses of GSMC. The opportunity for continued knowledge growth. Providing an approach to learning and growth that is pertinent to a specific knowledge deficit, thus creating competent and confident nurses. Using my experience and knowledge as a bedside nurse to advocate for the nursing staff. Collaboration between multidisciplinary parties to ensure improved patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Cons

My experience at this organization was largely shaped by a workplace culture that tolerated favoritism and lacked accountability from leadership. Opportunities, recognition, and advancement often appeared to depend more on personal relationships with management than on performance or qualifications. Leadership did not seem willing to address concerns raised by employees about fairness or workplace culture. When issues were brought forward, they were often dismissed or ignored rather than taken seriously. As concerns continued to arise this was discussed with the corporate ethics department which was “dismissed.” With my extensive background in healthcare I have never experienced a healthcare system of this magnitude that condones a culturally and ethically unjust workplace.
