Pros
Gooseneck has been a great company to work for. They are super flexible with scheduling which allows for a good work-life balance… except for one area. While they say they are very family oriented and do allow flexible schedules to help care for your kids, their maternity/paternity leave policies for the birth of a child are seriously lacking and don’t align with their vision of family first.
Cons
To only get 6 weeks of allowed disability pay is far below the National average of 8 weeks PAID time off. Even my husband got 4 full months off. Yes, you can use up PTO or even be allowed to go unpaid for longer if your supervisor approves, but who can afford that in today’s society? 6 weeks is not enough time to bond with your child as a mother and most day care won’t even take infants that young here. Aside from the maternity leave, the other con is a consistent lack of communication which often causes last minute chaos on a frequent basis and that can be very stressful during our busy season. Scheduling during the busy season is also an issue for some employees. Some departments have folks working 14+ days in a row and it definitely causes burnout and resentment toward managers and other employees.
